About
Dr. Xiaolong Li is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety. He loves his work as a psychologist because of the amazing, unexpected, heartfelt, hilarious, mournful, and transformational stories he gets to hear from his clients.
Dr. Li is traditionally trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has focused on integrative approaches throughout his practice. Through a decade of providing psychotherapy, supervision, and training — along with his own personal therapy and growth — he has evolved into a primarily ACT-based practitioner. The concepts and interventions of ACT deeply resonate with him in both his personal and professional life. He is continually amazed by what ACT provides for his clients and how it shapes, informs, enriches, and deepens his own experience. Through this work, he hopes not only to help alleviate mental health symptoms but to fundamentally change how people engage with themselves and the world around them, in the here and now.
Dr. Li has lived all over the country, from Alabama to upstate New York, but considers himself to have Midwestern roots, having grown up in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his permanent home in Northern California after attending the PAU-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium for graduate school. He is a 1.75-generation Chinese American immigrant and is raising biracial children with his wife, who is also a clinical psychologist. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, traveling, playing games, and watching sports.
